Bendix Wingman Advanced

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), collisions account for the majority of large truck accidents. The best crash is the one you avoid. Keeping a safe distance behind a vehicle is one way to help your fleet avoid these costly crashes.

Kenworth now offers Bendix Wingman Advanced as an option for select Class 8 models, which delivers adaptive cruise control with braking features along with collision mitigation technology. The system builds upon the company’s full-stability technology to provide fleets with a system to help drivers in collisions, potential rollovers and loss-of-control situations.

How It Works

Using a radar sensor mounted to the front of the vehicle, Bendix Wingman Advanced delivers both warnings and active interventions to help drivers buffer rear-end collisions. The system provides following distance and stationary object alerts, which are always available, whether or not cruise control is engaged.

The system will also actively intervene to help drivers maintain a safe following distance behind a forward vehicle by reducing throttle, engaging the engine retarder or, if necessary, applying the foundation breaks.

Affecting Your Bottom Line

The Bendix Wingman Advanced system helps your fleet in two significant ways. First, it helps drivers potentially avoid rear-end collisions or the severity, resulting in fewer accidents and accident-related costs. Second, it helps your drivers stay in cruise control longer, which can result in significant fuel savings.
