MHC is prepared to help fleets and owner-operators prepare for the FMCSA’s legislation on electronic logging devices (ELDs), which will go into effect December 18, 2017.
The FMCSA published a mandate on ELDs to improve safety and compliance on hours of service rules. The mandate was created to give requirements for device specifications and prohibit driver harassment. Exemptions include:
- Vehicles weighing less than 10,000 lbs.
- Intrastate commerce
- Short-haulers or trucks hauling less than 8 days in a rolling 30-day period
- Drive-away, tow-away operators
- Vehicles manufactured prior to 2000
